Company History
Pohl & Holmes, Inc. was founded by David Pohl and Bryan Homes in 1990. Growing up together in a small town located in California's San Joaquin Valley, they learned to respect the family farming tradition and its opportunities. The combination of their shared common values, agricultural knowledge and mechanical skills have been key to the continued success of Pohl & Holmes, Inc.

At Pohl & Holmes Inc., our mission is to provide sustainable agricultural solutions that empower local almond growers, while respecting the environment. We provide reliable and efficient harvest services with delicate treatment of crop to ensure the highest quality output possible.
Hulling/Shelling Services
We offer full-service processing for almond growers, including inbound frei
Hulling
Product received by Pohl & Holmes Inc. will go through a precleaning process to remove any debris before the hulling process. Once precleaned, the almond product is conveyed through a series of shear rolls, which crack the hulls. A series of vibrating screens will then separate the hulls from the
inshell almonds, meats, and fine dust. The fine dust is ducted to a filter for collection.
Pohl & Holmes, Inc. also offers inshell product electronic sorting.
Shelling
Once the hulls are removed, the inshell almonds pass through shear rolls and crackers. The shell is cracked away from the meats. The kernels are then conveyed to a series of gravity tables that remove any foreign material, shell and broken pieces. The finished product is sampled for moisture to determine if drying is needed.
Transportation Services
A shipping point inspection and outgoing weight certificate are provided. The inshell or shelled product can be delivered by bulk or meat bins to the packer or processor for further processing. Pohl & Holmes, Inc. trucking services are available or can be coordinated with your selected service provider.

Pohl and Holmes, Inc. can assist you in coordinating your harvesting operations efficiently, even during the peak of harvest. A successful harvest begins with good harvesting techniques and product handling.
Drying Services
Drying services at Pohl & Holmes, Inc. are conveniently offered on-site for our customers, as well as other nut growers and processors.
Once the hulling and shelling process is complete, kernel sampling from each run will be measured for excess moisture. If the product's excess moisture percentage exceeds the processor's requirements, then drying services will be recommended. Drying can be done in bulk loads or bins.

Trucking Services
Pohl & Holmes, Inc. provides trucking services by hauling agricultural goods throughout the San Joaquin Valley, including but not limited to Sacramento, Yolo, Stanislaus, Merced, Fresno, Tulare, and Kern counties.
